देश के पहले CDS जनरल बिपिन रावत का निधन हो गया है। वायुसेना ने ट्वीट कर इसकी आधिकारिक पुष्टि कर दी है। वहीं हेलीकॉप्टर में सवार 14 लोगों में से 13 लोगों की मौत हो गई है। इस हादसे में उनकी पत्नी मधुलिका रावत का भी निधन हो गया है। वहीं ग्रुप कैप्टन वरुण सिंह का इलाज जारी है।

ये विमान सुलूर से वेलिंगटन के लिए उड़ा था और कुछ देर बाद क्रैश हो गया। CDS रावत पत्नी समेत दिल्ली से एम्ब्रेयर विमान से सुलूर पहुंचे थे। इसके बाद सुलूर से Mi-17V5 से वेलिंगटन जा रहे थे।

रक्षा मंत्री ने ट्वीट कर जताया दुख
रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा, तमिलनाडु में आज एक बेहद दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण हेलीकॉप्टर दुर्घटना में चीफ ऑफ डिफेंस स्टाफ जनरल बिपिन रावत, उनकी पत्नी और 11 अन्य सशस्त्र बलों के जवानों के आकस्मिक निधन से गहरा दुख हुआ। राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने ट्वीट कर दुख जताया।
